To carry out its mission of public interest and mobilise the collective, ecosystem, partnered for the first time with the Tour de France in 2020. At this event, a major used smartphone collection operation was launched. To embody its model values, its values of accountability and commitment, ecosystem chose Jérémy Roy as its ambassador. A committed, former cycling champion, and now sports consultant, he rallied cycling fans and enthusiasts around this Grand Solidarity Collection event.

This event provided the opportunity to promote the new ‘I give by phone” service. Initiated by ecosystem the jedonnemontelephone.fr website is a practical, free and tracked solution that is a true solution to prolong the life of old devices. By ordering a pre-paid envelope users can send their used telephones free of charge. The mobile phones are collected, sorted, repaired, resold at socially affordable prices (by Ateliers du Bocage, a French inclusive employment association, part of the Emmaüs network) or recycled. With an 80% recycling rate, reusing materials allows rare and non-renewable natural resources to be saved.

In 28 stopover towns participating in the collection operation, ecosystem gave a total of 3,500 reconditioned telephones to 43 local associations, thereby helping those befitting from their services and who are in social difficulty. Out of the 25,000 phones collected in 2020 via jedonnemontelephone.fr, 12,500 mobile telephones were collected during the Tour de France.
