National recycling and recovery rates

Collecting used appliances and lamps is a source of raw materials. From the 603,884 tonnes of household WEEE collected nationally by ecosystem in 2020:

  • 76 % were recycled,
  • 86,2 % have been recovered in various forms (energy, backfill, etc.).
  • The remaining tonnages (that cannot be recovered) were isolated and treated by specialised facilities.

In regards to the glass from cathode ray tubes, regulations do not authorise its recycling and Europe does have a recovery process. Within this context, in France, nearly all glass from cathode ray tubes has been landfilled in hazardous waste landfills.

Environmental review

In order continue to go further in recycling quality ecosystem evaluates the environmental footprint of each stage of the recycling chain (waste transport, depollution, material recycling, etc.). This review shows the environmental benefits of recycling that enable resources to be regenerated. Currently, it covers the entire scope in electrical and electronic household appliances and lamps.
